On Thursday the 24th of June nearly 60 children from our school went to the triathlon at Melior South Site.
We had to swim 35 metres or 10 metres, after that we hade to cycle 2 laps of the field, then run one lap. After that when we passed the finish line we all got a banana, a medal, a water bottle, water, a ball on a string and a pen.
We all enjoyed the day. When we finished we started to play with the balls, we are all proud and hope we can do it again next year.

On the 30th of June we will be having a sports day. This will be in the morning asit will be not as hot for children and parents alike.
We will be taking part in various activities such as long jump, sitting throw, sprint, hurdles and obstacle races. Each child will belong to a colour group and will move around the activities and compete against other teams. Winners of each event will be given a first, second or third place sticker and points awarded which will be collected at the end and an overall group winner with the most points will receive a prize.
This year it will be a little different as parents will be able to move around and take a closer look at the sports activities.
Also we will have refreshments outside while we are enjoying the day. Hopefully the weather will allow it to go ahead and we will have a fantastic sports day.

On the 16th of July we will be having a summer fair which will be a great day for all of us.
Our stalls will be tombola, white elephant, splat the rat, nail and face painting, pin the tail on the donkey, the key game, the coloured stick, guess the football team, and apple bobbing. These are games the school council has chosen for us all to enjoy.
We will be able to buy ice pops and refreshments but no cakes as last year they didn’t sell as well; they sell a lot better in the autumn.

A ‘popular and lovely’ 13-year-old boy drowned trying to save his friend after she fell into a river.
Declan Shanley and his friends had been playing in the River Kelvin on Saturday evening, when one of them got into trouble.
Declan tried to help her, but was swept away by the current.
Police said Declan had been very brave, and his head teacher said a special assembly would be held at his school on Monday to remember him.
As you can see Declan really cared about his friends and wanted to keep his friends safe.
As the warm weather approaches and many children seek to cool off in lakes, ponds and rivers, the warning is to remember your water safety. There are always things lurking beneath the still of the water that can cause great problems for you. While it may seem a fun thing to do, most bodies of water are deep and once in the water, children find it too difficult to get out.
Please everyone, take care near water.

On the 18th of June we sold many biscuits for father’s day that included small or large ones. We hope all the dads enjoyed them, they were a great success and we will be selling them again next year hopefully. We would like to thank Mrs Neal for all her hard work making the biscuits with the children.

Set to hit the cinema’s this month is the new film The A Team.
The A-Team” follows the exciting and daring exploits of Hannibal Smith and his colorful team of former Special Forces soldiers who were set up for a crime they did not commit. Going “rogue,” they utilize their unique talents – and eccentricities – to try and clear their names and find the true culprit.
Parents may well remember the original series, with many children able to follow repeat programmes on cable and satellite. More recently Mr T has been given publicity advertising Snickers chocolate bars on TV and has amassed a huge following.

Scunthorpe has seen a recent rise in the number of theft of metals from people’s properties. As well as many businesses and church premises being the target of the thieves, attention has now turned to people’s homes.
Thieves are attracted by metal on view such as lead or copper and are waiting until the middle of the night to steal the metal. This is then weighed in as scrap for a fraction of what it is worth or cost’s to replace. Homeowners are left trying to replace the metal and repair the damage left in the process of stealing the metal.
Police are limited as to what they can do as they cannot patrol often enough to catch the thieves in action and arrest them.
Homeowners can help by not leaving any metal items waiting to be disposed of where they can be seen by passersby.
They should paint or replace the lead lining of their homes with a material unattractive to metal thieves. Tradesmen should also beware of leaving copper items in their vans overnight.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: “Not only do domestic and business premises get targeted, but Lorries and other vehicles also.
“The driver or owner of a vehicle may not realise any theft has occurred until much later on when they are in a different county, or in some cases country, thus making it impossible to ascertain where and when the theft happened.”
